Tim Smith
Director

Tim Smith is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. He has previously worked for KPMG in London and in industry. He joined Nevill Hovey as a partner in March 2002. Initially, he was responsible for the larger clients including those requiring an audit. Since April 2008, Tim has been Managing Director responsible for all of the firm’s clients. He is a trustee of St Petrocs Society for the single homeless in Cornwall and treasurer of the Cornwall Community Foundation.

Hugh Williams
Director
Hugh Williams, a non-executive director, is also a Chartered Accountant. He has run his own award-winning accountancy practice in Plymouth for many years. With Tim, he is the author of a number of books on tax including Tax Answers at a Glance and 101 Ways to Save Tax.

Mel Stone is a Chartered Certified Accountant who joined Nevill Hovey in 2005. She has over ten years’ worth of experience. She deals with a variety of clients from limited companies to partnerships to sole traders to clubs. She is able to provide a full range of services such as accounts, audit, tax, VAT and payroll. She also has experience of using Sage Instant and Sage Line 50.

Collette Burgess is a highly efficient Accounting Technician of many years' experience with us. Her forte is looking after some of our sole traders and partnerships. There is not much Collette does not know about farm accounts and farmers' tax.

She deals with a variety of clients from limited companies to partnerships to sole traders to clubs. She is able to provide a full range of services such as year end accounts, monthly management accounts, tax, VAT and payroll. She also has vast experience of using Sage Instant and Sage Line 50.

Sam Johnson
Audit Manager

Sam Johnson is our Audit Manager. A Fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians and a Tax Technician, she is a highly competent and conscientious accountant. Sam manages all of our audits and has particular knowledge of large corporate and charity accounts. Sam has worked at Nevill Hovey for over twenty years in which time she has also dealt with accounts, tax, payroll and VAT matters for a variety of clients including limited companies, partnerships and sole traders enabling her to accumulate a vast technical knowledge as well as substantial experience of family run businesses.

Marisa Philp

Marisa Philp is both an Accounting Technician and a Tax Technician. She has an excellent working knowledge of Sage Line 50. Based on many years with Nevill Hovey, Marisa has a detailed working knowledge of the business affairs of some of our larger clients. It is no coincidence that they are also among our most delighted clients as nothing is too much trouble for Marisa.

Tricia Richardson
Payroll Supervisor & Administrator

Tricia looks after most of our payroll clients. She is also responsible for the implementation of Nevill Hovey’s marketing strategy (including the maintenance of this website). She is a self-starter who is constantly trying to innovate so that we provide the best possible service to all our clients, large and small. She works on Monday and Tuesdays.
